Still More Makes
Ghost and Mask
Another Make- another challenge:
This might have been around Hallowe'en time...can't remember. Or during one of the story lines that would take of in GSOLFOT and everyone would contribute bits and pieces to an imaginary 'happening'.
At any rate, we had to do a ghost and a mask that reflected the recipients title.
I got this wonderful ghost figure, I imagine from some poor beachcomber who got in trouble and wound up in the briny deep. There is a light inside that flashes in different colours. I love how the open mouth is indicated by a teeny-tiny seashell.
The mask is attached to the post of the gazebo in the photo just above. It is so full of character...for some reason it makes me think of ancient Greek plays. Maybe like Poseidon or something. The green seaweed beard tangled with shells is really cool.

For Emma, I had a lot of fun researching ancient mythical characters to get inspiration. This is what finally emerged.
The Ghost grew from gauze and tissue and lots of glue.

GARDEN MAKE
The challenge this time was to MAKE for a garden.
I recvieved a beautiful rambling rose and a garden fountain. As you can see, the roses are lovely climbing on the base of the gazebo. The fountain is scheduled to go in the addition to my castle room- a roof garden. ( It's fun that imagination lets you do anything- why not have a rambling rose on an inside gazebo? )

For Jackie, AKA 'Giraffa', I made a garden bench. I designed and built the whole thing by adapting a plan in one of my DH's woodworking magazines. I made two of them, meaning to keep one for myself. Then later there was a big gifting to help cheer a Sockee who had lost her hubby. I sent the bench for that. I will have to make myself another when I get at the roof-top garden.
I also made her a 'tile' floor. I had a graphic of the pattern from some craft project. I turned it, applied it to a base and covered it with many layers of clear finish to give it a shiny tile look.
I also sent along the giraffe figure- I had come across it by accident on a ferry trip to Vancouver. It immediately spoke to me of Jackie. It played around my Office for a period of time before making the journey to England.
I called the picture below "Seeking Giraffa".
It tickled me that it looked like the giraffe was climbing into my room. This was a very early MAKE for me, because the room box was just in the construction stage.
